ARC Review: Fallen Heir – Erin Watt

Finished this in one day after my book slump
Of course I’m going back to my book slump now
But no one can ignore an Erin Watt book because they’re simply amazing.

Thank you Erin Watt for blessing me with this e-ARC and giving me the opportunity to read it before it gets released and die before everyone else does, and therefore have a longer and more agonizing wait.

Btw you might wanna finish reading the previous three novels before reading this, cus I might put spoilers from previous books here, and plot points in which you won’t understand.

Book Cover Comments

I simply love that shade of purple, and its also like you know, royalty color. This time we get a staff/stick/doodad and its pretty sick. I’m in love with the cover and I can’t wait to get my hands on a paperback copy when the physical book comes out.

The Review

RECAP: Paper Princess focuses on Ella Environment, Broken Prince on Reed Redemption, Twisted Palace on Event Ecstasy. Fallen Heir? EASTON EFFING ROYAL.

This book and the next book, Cracked Kingdom, will be focusing on Easton’s story and his life. This takes place after Tarnished Crown (Book 3.5 on Gideon) in which I have yet to read cus I want to read it in one sitting instead of waiting for a chapter to be released each week. So unfortunately Reed is at college, but hey, we musn’t cast our first three book’s heroine, Ella aside. She continues to be super badass.

Where do I even start in this amazing first book about Easton? ok fine no one ever said that Easton is a Reed, because he isn’t. Throughout this book, Easton goes through a lot, like ALOT. He’s getting out there, seeing the world and begins to listen to others. Easton’s going through an emotional rollercoaster on redemption and self realisation, his role in his family and his behavior, how that affects others and himself, all of that because of one girl.

Oh Hartley. Now she too is a tough character. But I love Hartley. I have to say she’s real steal. Her outer shell is really strong for what she went through, is going through, in which you’ll be super excited to know about when you read this book because its super super amazing, and also how she behaves towards Easton. Easton tries real hard to break that outer walnut shell and gets to know Hartley, and so she’s his game changer. I’m glad to see the flower starting to bloom.

But Royals never let you go without some beef.

Oh yes the beef. This is a spoiler free zone unfortunately, so I can’t say a word, but there are two major beefs. The second one ends when the book ends and is a major major major cliffhanger. I’m not kidding. The moment I got to the last page on my Kindle, I knew I was going to die since I have to wait from now, aka mid-August all the way to January. That’s not very fun at all. And all the ups and downs that Easton has to go through just kills me.

I super love Hartley though. The way she acts when her softer self emerges and feels safer around Easton (sigh I mean its Easton Royal) and then when some sweet butterfly heartache scenes emerge.. the butterflies even come out when I just can’t bare to see Easton’s love struggles. Unlike Paper Princess, Broken Prince and Twisted Palace, the hot and steaminess really toned down even though it makes sense because of the plot line and progression in Fallen Heir, but I do have high hopes and expectations for what is to come in Cracked Kingdom. And I’m dying to read it.

For anyone who’s dying for a sweetheart romance and lots of drama and beef, go and pick up Paper Princess and start reading, then get all the way to Fallen Heir, and then feel my anticipation-caused-death for Cracked Kingdom.

With their country and their hearts divided, Carys and Andreus will discover exactly what each will do to win the crown. How long before suspicion takes hold and the thirst for power leads to the ultimate betrayal?

Book Cover Comments

That black liquid…

Also the concept of splitting the throne into two is simply sickening.

The book IRL is more silver and white and brighter than what you see on the pictures actually, so I’m glad I picked up this gorgeous book and not on kindle or anything XD

The Actual Review

Ok this book is simply magical.

Nonono, not the fantasical magical. Magical as in, WHOA.

When I closed this book, I still couldn’t really believe what actually just happened in this book. While the book kicks off with a bit more of a backing up story and a slightly slow start, it hooked up my interest all the way up to where all the excitement starts, and then oooh my goodness.

Ok as we all know from the synopsis, Carys and Andreus have to take part in the Trial of Succession to determine which twin will take over the throne. And gosh how exciting is the trials? The answer is very. First trial, I was surprised how it ended, and I see the storm quickly brewing up, and then second trial, holy mother of Jesus what just happened. It’s like, everyone had a 360 degree change into something else, and that totally boosted the plot and made everything super exciting. Third trial (yes spoilers for number of trials) was pretty devastating. I was like wth in the second part of the third trial, and then when everything turned out as the ending would be, I was like, ok where’s the next book I desperately need it pretty much right now.

hahah Carys and Andreus. I pronounce then Ca-ree-s and Andrew-s. Apparently its supposed to be pronounced like Karis and Éndreas according to the audiobook that I tested out.

Ok at first when I read the synopsis and how the story started off, I thought the twins were gonna be as thick as thieves all the way to the end and find a way to trick the Trials. At least, that was what they were going for. NOPE. NOT THE CASE AT ALL. SO many many characters alongside of Carys and Andreus began planting lies and thoughts into the minds of the twins, and then things started getting real complicated. When those lies pretty much divert the twins from their path of light, and then when antagonists appear and make things just much more worse…

Lords I cannot handle all this suspense and insanity.

Me at one point:
God why is this character so stupid what is wrong with this character NO DON’T GO DOWN THIS PATH…
*a few pages or chapters or whatever later*
Dang it.

Dear reader of this blog post, Dividing Eden is one of the best Summer reads that I have had so far, It is absolutely amazing, thrilling, the thirst of power, desire and the power of lies and betrayal, an absolute page turner.

Book Review: Wayfarer – Alexandra Bracken

Ok I just realised that I totally forgot to write up the review for Wayfarer… here we go!

Name: Wayfarer
Author: Alexandra Bracken
Publisher: Hyperion/Quercus
Release Date: January 3 / 12, 2017

All Etta Spencer wanted was to make her violin debut when she was thrust into a treacherous world where the struggle for power could alter history. After losing the one thing that would have allowed her to protect the Timeline, and the one person worth fighting for, Etta awakens alone in an unknown place and time, exposed to the threat of the two groups who would rather see her dead than succeed. When help arrives, it comes from the last person Etta ever expected – Julian Ironwood, the Grand Master’s heir who has long been presumed dead, and whose dangerous alliance with a man from Etta’s past could put them both at risk.

Meanwhile, Nicholas and Sophia are racing through time in order to locate Etta and the missing astrolabe with Ironwood travelers hot on their trail. They cross paths with a mercenary-for-hire, a cheeky girl named Li Min who quickly develops a flirtation with Sophia. But as the three of them attempt to evade their pursuers, Nicholas soon realises that one of his companions may have ulterior motives.

As Etta and Nicholas fight to make their way back to one another, from Imperial Russia to the Vatican catacombs, time is rapidly shifting and changing into something unrecognisable … and might just run out on both of them.

Book Cover Comments

Wayfarer is totally as beautiful as Passenger, and the purple is absolutely gorgeous. I don’t think I still know the significance of the tree but whateves lol. Its so pretty.

The Actual Review

(kill me its been too long ago as well)

Ok. Here we go again. The probably one and only problem with Alex Bracken books, and since this is the third one it pretty much is the case: its very very very very very very SLOW! Just like last book, for some reason I had to rush it before a flight, therefore I pushed myself to keep reading it no matter what, Wayfarer lives up to its name. It still kept me turning the pages, while it continues on the journey across history with even more exciting places, plot lines and new characters.

Ok the entire time Etta and Nicholas were fairy close to each other, (it was kinda as if one was catching up to the other) cus they’re separated into two teams, there were so much butterfly heartaches that I can’t even imagine. And then when everything just explodes and whenever Etta and Nicholas’ relationship get closer and closer, I just die over it.

We’re introduced to some really good characters, especially more of Etta’s relatives a.k.a. history, and that makes the plot super super super super funky and interesting. I was totally in shock to first meet these characters, how they played out, how Etta is tied in with them, and then how some secrets are here and there, oooooo.

Though I must say the ending does remind me of how Miss Peregrine… ooo. I totally forgot. In my Passenger review I mentioned how the Edelstein Trilogy was the only time travelling series I read. I guess Miss Peregrine counts as well? Like yea sure I’m happy for the ending and there really is no way to conclude the series, buuuuut maybe a bit too magical in my opinion? Also the Prologue and Epilogue just confused the hell outta me XD

Wayfarer, though slow, is a great read for fans of romance, time travelling, mysteries and relationships and so much more.
